Coercive control is an idea we are not exposed to here in the US. It “isn’t a thing.” Reading the article, I realize that I have been subjected to coercive control in not one, but two relationships. It is a pattern, and I did not recognize that. Thank you for the well-written and informative article. I am going to need to sit with it, to clarify my thoughts and feelings about what I’ve learned.

Thanks for posting this. I’m a survivor of coercive abuse and still in the healing process. I was married with kids so it’s a little bit impossible for me to cut ties completely. But I am so glad knowledge about it is getting out to help others. Thank you!
