A Space to Share and Connect: New Subscriber Chat
A private space for us to converse and connect
Last week, I introduced something new to my Substack publication: a private chat space for the Supporter Tier of Shadows of Control. For now, it’s open to everyone through the end of this month, and it’s been inspiring to see how many people are showing up, encouraging each other, and reminding one another that none of us are alone.
This chat is a supportive space where we can slow down, reflect, and connect. You’re welcome to drop in, read along, and, if it feels right, share pieces of your own journey.
Here’s what you’ll find in the chat:
Weekly reflections and gentle reminders — regular posts to help you feel grounded and connected.
Mini check-ins — brief thoughts, encouragement, questiosns, or personal notes from me, just for supporters.
Space to share — opportunity to share your own experiences, challenges, or insights.
Calm connection — a space where you can respond, or simply read along knowing you’re not alone.
Personal reflections — stories and moments from my own journey of abuse, healing, and navigating life after separation that I don’t share on my public page.
This is a safe and respectful place to feel less alone, whether you’re still in the middle of it or finding your way through recovery. You can reply with words, leave an emoji, or just read quietly — participation is always optional.
I’m so grateful for everyone who chooses to support my work here. My hope is that this chat gives something back to you: a place to express whatever you’re carrying, and reminders that your strength shows up in many forms.
If you’d like to drop in and see what the chat has to offer, click the button below.
With care,
Samara
How to get started
Get the Substack app by clicking this link or the button below. New chat threads won’t be sent sent via email, so turn on push notifications so you don’t miss conversation as it happens. You can also access chat on the web.
Open the app and tap the Chat icon. It looks like two bubbles in the bottom bar, and you’ll see a row for my chat inside.
That’s it! Feel free to join the thread in whatever way feels right for you — whether that’s sharing a few words or just being present. If you have any technical issues, check out Substack’s FAQ.

I get we all are trying to survive capitalism but why is a dv support group behind a pay wall? I enjoy your free content very much.
